CCBC initiative was officially launched in Ribeirão Preto during an event on the impacts of the Tax Reform on agribusiness

The Chamber of Commerce Brazil-Canada (CCBC) and the law firm Brasil Salomão e Matthes Advocacia, which leads the Chamber’s Ribeirão Preto Chapter, officially launched the CCBC Agribusiness Committee during the event Tax Reform in Focus: Agribusiness Sector, held in Ribeirão Preto.
The new Committee aims to promote cooperation between Brazil and Canada in strategic areas of agribusiness — including inputs, production, research, technology, and sustainability — while reinforcing Ribeirão Preto’s position as a national innovation hub and an international reference in the sector.
“The creation of this Committee strengthens the role of Brazilian agribusiness on the international stage and brings even closer two countries with great potential for economic complementarity,” says Hilton Reche do Nascimento, CEO of CCBC. “We believe that new trade agreements and partnerships may arise from the work of the Ribeirão Preto Chapter, which is strategically located in Brazil’s agribusiness capital,” he adds.
Brasil Salomão e Matthes Advocacia will lead the Committee’s activities, under the coordination of partner Gabriel Prata, a specialist in Tax Law and International Transactions, who will work alongside Hilton Nascimento and Elaine Pagani, CCBC board member and CEO of Garin Multi Family Office.
“The idea is also to create an environment for debate and research on the sector, fostering knowledge exchange among entrepreneurs, institutions, and researchers. In addition to connecting stakeholders from the Brazilian and Canadian agribusiness ecosystems, the group will be supported by the Marcelo Salomão Agribusiness Studies Center, focused on scientific production, events, and lectures,” explains Prata.
For Brasil Salomão’s executive directors Rodrigo Forcenette and Evandro Grili, the creation of the Committee comes at a crucial time, as the Tax Reform reshapes Brazil’s fiscal environment.
“The firm has been actively engaged in agribusiness-related issues and sees in this international dialogue an opportunity to expand the global reach of Brazilian agribusiness,” they point out.
Event Highlights: Impacts of the Tax Reform on Agribusiness
The meeting, held on October 14, brought together legal experts, CCBC representatives, and executives from major agribusiness companies. Topics discussed included supply chain dynamics, tax impacts on rural producers, and innovations in the agro-industrial sector.
Participants included Fábio Calcini, Rodrigo Forcenette, Marcelo Junqueira (SRB), Charles McNaughton (JBS), Aparecida Oliveira (Ouro Fino), Marcelo Geraldelli (Copercitrus), Sylvio Lima Júnior (Coplana), Adriano Geraldelli (Guaxupé), and Camila Reis (Tereos).
According to CCBC President Hilton Nascimento, the event served as an important forum for agribusiness entrepreneurs to better understand the changes brought by the tax reform, “while also providing participants with insights into exploring areas with more favorable tax conditions for those seeking more advantageous agreements,” he concludes.
