Focused on sustainable solutions, Grupo Myr eyes Canada to accelerate international expansion

Partnership with the Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce (CCBC) drives entry into the Canadian market and strengthens sustainability agenda

After two decades of operation, Grupo Myr has evolved into a network of companies and organizations dedicated to promoting sustainability in urban environments. Originating in Minas Gerais with a focus on urban ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) solutions, the group has just taken a major step in its journey: with the support of the Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce (CCBC), it has officially launched operations in Canada.

According to Sergio Myssior, CEO and founder of Grupo Myr, the CCBC provided technical, tax, market, and institutional support, in addition to fostering connections with stakeholders committed to advancing the ESG agenda.

“The Chamber acts, in the best sense, as a shortcut—it not only shortens the timeline but also increases the precision of our internationalization investment,” he said. “When planning this move, essential questions arise regarding legal foundations, taxation, and business structuring,” he added.

The executive also emphasizes the importance of cultural immersion.

“Through the Chamber, we were able to build this step-by-step pathway that involves earning credibility, authority, and recognition—elements that naturally lead to the creation of new business opportunities,” he explained.

The results of Grupo Myr’s international expansion strategy are already becoming evident. The group has more than doubled its revenue in the past two years, boosted by management professionalization and the adoption of globally recognized technological solutions. Over the next five years, the company expects the Canadian market to contribute to a new doubling of its revenue.

“That’s why we decided not just to open a branch, but to establish a genuinely Canadian company,” Myssior explains.

About the Group
Grupo Myr’s journey has been shaped by the collaboration of professionals from diverse fields such as engineering, urban planning, architecture, biology, social sciences, geography, and business administration.

The group’s mission is to help build more humane and resilient cities.

“Our main focus is people’s well-being,” summarizes CEO Sergio Myssior.

Over time, the group’s scope has expanded to include sectors such as mobility, housing, infrastructure, and commercial developments, always integrating environmental, social, economic, and cultural dimensions into project development.

Among the services offered by the group are environmental impact assessments, recovery plans for degraded areas, master and mobility plans, and solutions aligned with the climate agenda.

For Myssior, the current global environmental crisis demands faster and more structured responses. He warns that extreme weather events are becoming increasingly frequent and intense, requiring concrete mitigation and adaptation measures.

“We must invest in the transition to a low-carbon economy,” he asserts.

In recent years, governance has also become a strategic pillar for the group, with the adoption of ESG principles and investments in integrity, compliance, and quality. It was within this context that MYRTECH, the group’s tech arm, was born—dedicated to developing sustainable and digital solutions.

“This socio-environmental governance is a strategic condition for prosperity and for building strong relationships with our stakeholders,” he observes.
