Chamber of Commerce Brazil-Canada (CCBC) launches pioneering course to prepare lawyers, product developers, and other professionals interested in the sector

With a direct impact on people’s lives, accelerated innovation, and increasingly complex regulations, the Life Sciences sector is experiencing significant growth in Brazil and worldwide. This field—which spans the development of pharmaceuticals to the commercialization of medical devices, cosmetics, food products, and biotech innovations—demands highly qualified professionals to navigate its legal, regulatory, and strategic challenges.
Addressing this growing demand, the Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce (CCBC) is launching the Course in Life Sciences Law, the first program offered by its newly created CCBC Business School. Starting in June, the course will take place in São Paulo with the option of online participation and will bring together renowned experts from Brazil and abroad to deliver a robust, practical, and market-driven training.
Life Sciences Law has gained prominence in Brazil with topics such as drug pricing, public-private partnerships for production development, health-related litigation, and the regulation of emerging technologies—including artificial intelligence, wearables, and gene therapy. From 2017 to 2025 alone, Brazil’s health regulatory agency Anvisa approved 124 treatments for rare diseases, underscoring the critical role of regulation in expanding healthcare access.
“The course offers a cross-disciplinary education that combines regulation, business strategy, and social responsibility. It’s a field that directly affects people’s lives and drives healthcare innovation,” says Beatriz Kestener, academic coordinator of the program alongside Guillermo Glassman. Both are national authorities in health regulation, intellectual property, and strategic litigation.
Course Structure
With 80 hours of content across 16 weekly sessions, the course offers a 360-degree view of the Life Sciences value chain—from research and development to commercialization and post-market surveillance. Classes will feature real-world case studies, in-depth regulatory analysis, and practical discussions led by industry specialists.
Topics include the role and strategies of Brazil’s National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) and international regulators, drug pricing and regulation by the Drug Market Regulation Chamber (CMED), health litigation and its industry impact, compliance, advocacy, and regulatory best practices, public-private partnerships for innovation, as well as the use of AI and new technologies in healthcare.
Designed for lawyers, regulators, professionals in the pharmaceutical, food, cosmetics, and medical devices industries, researchers, and entrepreneurs, the course grants an executive certificate and encourages networking with influential figures in the field.
Classes will be held on Fridays from 2 PM to 7 PM at CCBC headquarters in São Paulo (Rua do Rocio, 220 – Vila Olímpia). The investment is R$ 8,900, with options for installment payments and discounts available for CCBC members, corporate groups, and upfront payments.
