Aware of the increasing use of technology by participants, the Arbitration Center aims to promote a transparent discussion on the responsible use of AI tools

The Center for Arbitration and Mediation of the Chamber of Commerce Brazil-Canada (CAM-CCBC), the largest arbitration center in Brazil and a reference in Latin America, published Administrative Guidance No. 07/2025 on its website. The document establishes guidelines regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools.
The guidance clarifies that CAM-CCBC does not currently use such tools in the administration of arbitrations, mediations, dispute boards, or other appropriate dispute resolution mechanisms. It also advises all parties involved in the proceedings—including arbitrators, mediators, and disputing parties—to remain vigilant to ensure the use of technology is handled with care, especially considering associated risks such as the generation of inaccurate information and potential breaches of confidentiality.
The publication reflects the Center’s commitment to transparency, innovation, and the continuous improvement of dispute resolution practices. It recognizes the importance of discussing the potential of new technologies to enhance procedural efficiency while also ensuring that necessary precautions are taken for their responsible use.
The Guidance encourages open and transparent dialogue about the use of AI. It clarifies that “should participants deem it appropriate, they may include specific clauses in the Arbitration Agreement, Mediation Agreement, or the Dispute Prevention and Resolution Committee regarding the use and conditions for using artificial intelligence tools during the proceedings.”
