Canada is preparing to host, alongside the United States and Mexico, the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place between June and July 2026. The cities of Toronto and Vancouver will be the Canadian stages of the tournament, attracting thousands of fans from around the world. For those dreaming of experiencing it firsthand, planning must begin now — especially when it comes to securing a visa.

Brazilian citizens need a Visitor Visa (TRV) to enter Canada. Processing times typically range from 30 to 90 days, but may be longer during peak demand. With application volumes expected to rise starting mid-2025, the recommendation is to begin the process in the first quarter of 2025, ensuring enough time for possible requests for additional documents.

Tourist visas were previously issued with validity of up to 10 years, limited by the validity of the passport. However, in recent months, the Canadian consulate has granted, in many cases, visas with reduced validity — sometimes for only six months.

Those who hold a valid U.S. visa issued within the last 10 years may, in some cases, apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) — a simpler and faster process, with results often available within a few days.

⚠️ Attention: The eTA is valid only for air entry into Canada. Travelers planning to cross the border by land or sea — for example, arriving from the United States — must apply for the traditional visa (TRV).
