Ambassador Rubens Gama is the Consul General of Brazil in Montreal since August 2017. In this capacity, he is in charge of Brazilian consular assistance and services in the Canadian provinces of Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island.

Prior to this appointment, Rubens Gama, a career diplomat, served in Brasilia as Director of the Department of Immigration and Legal Affairs of the Ministry of External Relations. Previously he had held the positions of Director of the Department of Trade Promotion and of the Department of Central America and the Caribbean Affairs. From 2014 to 2016, Rubens Gama served as Chief of Staff of the Minister of Industry and Trade.

Throughout his career, Ambassador Rubens Gama worked in various diplomatic positions in the Brazilian Mission to the European Union in Brussels, Belgium, followed by the Embassy of Brazil in Asuncion, Paraguay. He also worked for five years as the Minister-Counselor for Economic Affairs in the Brazilian Embassy in Washington, D.C.

Rubens Gama received a B.A. degree in Economic Sciences from the Catholic University of Goias–Brazil. He holds a master degree in International Public Policy from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University–Washington, DC.
