By Pedro Augusto<\/strong><\/p> <\/p> Trade between Brazil and Canada maintained strong momentum in the first nine months of 2025, consolidating the steady growth trend of Brazilian exports to the Canadian market and a positive trade balance for Brazil. The Quick Trade Facts (QTF)<\/em>, a quarterly report prepared by the Chamber of Commerce Brazil-Canada (CCBC), shows that Brazilian exports to Canada reached US$ 5.08 billion between January and September \u2014 a 14% increase compared to the same period in 2024.<\/p> Brazilian imports of Canadian goods also grew, rising 7% in the period to US$ 2.36 billion, resulting in a US$ 2.7 billion trade surplus in favor of Brazil. The increase reinforces Canada\u2019s role as a strategic partner in Brazil\u2019s foreign trade. The total trade flow \u2014 exports plus imports \u2014 reached US$ 7.45 billion, up 12% year-on-year. <\/p> According to the analysis by CCBC specialists, even with the gradual appreciation of the Brazilian real against the Canadian dollar, Brazilian shipments increased, demonstrating the strength and competitiveness of national products in the market. This is because, when the real appreciates against the Canadian dollar, Brazilian products become “more expensive” for Canadians, which tends to reduce, not increase, exports. In other words, there is an inverse relationship where the appreciation of the Brazilian currency usually reduces the competitiveness of national products abroad and, at the same time, may favor the increase in imports of Canadian products.<\/p> \u201cThe results confirm that Brazilian products continue to gain ground in Canada thanks to their quality, diversified portfolios, and the current global economic context,\u201d says Hilton Nascimento, CEO of CCBC. \u201cMoreover, the tariff measures imposed by the United States on several countries have further strengthened the already growing bilateral relationship between Brazil and Canada,\u201d he adds.<\/p> Brazilian exports reached their highest value ever recorded for the January\u2013September period, exceeding the previous record (2024) by more than US$ 600 million. The growth was driven mainly by exports of gold bullion (in raw form), green coffee, pork, as well as mineral and manufactured products such as alumina.<\/p> In the third quarter, results reinforced this trend: gold bullion remained the top export item with US$ 1.79 billion, up 43.8% from Q3 2024. Calcined alumina also performed strongly, totaling US$ 883.1 million (+37%), while green coffee rose 16% to US$ 177.6 million. These products remain key drivers of Brazil\u2019s trade balance with Canada.<\/p> Despite declines in some categories, such as aircraft and sugar, the combination of mineral and agricultural commodities continues to lead export performance. Canada\u2019s share in total Brazilian exports increased from 1.7% to 2%, reflecting the strengthening of commercial ties between the two countries.<\/p> On the import side, Brazil purchased 7% more Canadian goods than in the same period of 2024, led by fertilizers, turbojets, pharmaceuticals, and machinery. Canada remains an important supplier for Brazilian industries, especially in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and heavy equipment sectors.Between July and September, potassium chlorides continued to dominate Brazilian imports, totaling US$ 1.09 billion, up 6% compared to the same quarter in 2024.
