Domain Register<\/h1>\n

The so-called domain names are the designation that aims to identify and locate computers on the internet. These are easily memorized words or phrases that replace the long numerical expressions that indicate the website address. Usually a domain name represents an internet protocol (IP), such as a personal computer used to access the internet, a server hosting a website, or the web page itself. By 2017 there were 330.6 million registered domain names worldwide.<\/p>\n

Names usually provide immediate identification with website owners, allowing easy access by Internet users. In this way, they constitute true digital identities of companies and people, usually called site addresses. For this reason, registering the domain name is an important step for any company that wants to have their space recognized on the internet. Through it, the protection of the address is guaranteed, reserving to the holder the exclusivity in the use and exploitation of the name.<\/p>\n

[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.12.2″]<\/p>\n

In Brazil, registration \u2013 both for individuals and for legal entities, provided that they are legally represented or established in the country \u2013 must be registered with the N\u00facleo de Informa\u00e7\u00e3o e Coordena\u00e7\u00e3o do Ponto BR <\/em>(Information and Coordination Center of Point BR), NIC.br. Registration requests are processed as a request queue, in which order is guaranteed by assigning a sequential number (ticket). That is, the registration is granted to the first person who requests and meets the requirements of Resolution CGI.br\/RES\/2008\/008\/P, of November 28, 2008.<\/p>\n

CAM-CCBC\u2019s Domain Name Dispute Settlement Committee (CCRD) has a set of rules, duly approved by the NIC.br, to resolve possible conflicts between domain name holders in Brazil (i.e., ending in \u201c.br\u201d) and any other party contesting the legitimacy of the name registration. The CCRD is composed of specialized persons with legal training, and the disputes are decided by a Decision Body, composed of three members of the Committee, chosen by the disputing parties. From a period of 15 days after the decision is communicated, the NIC.br will implement it.<\/p>\n
