Ms. Ljiljana Josic is a Principal Geotechnical Engineer/Manager Mine Waste with more than 25 years of experience in an engineering consulting environment, research and academic work.  Her areas of expertise include geo-environmental engineering including geotechnical, environmental and hydrogeology. Ms. Josic has been involved in many mining projects that include geotechnical site investigation, foundation analyses and design, dam design and staged construction on soft foundation, design of tailings, waste rock and sludge disposal facilities, design of heap leach, preparation of tender documents, tailings deposition planning, site characterization study of abandoned tailings facilities, mine closure planning, Dam Safety Review (DSR), open pit slope design recommendation, etc.  Ms. Josic has worked on projects which entail slope stability assessment (soil and rock), settlement analysis, stress and deformation analyses of earth structures, ground water seepage evaluation, and other numerical analyses and modelling. She has been project manager/technical lead for many domestic and international mining projects, including projects in Tanzania, Pakistan, Russia, Morocco, Madagascar, Venezuela, USA, Brazil, Guyana, Columbia, Dominican Republic, etc. This involves more than 50 domestic and international projects in a variety of geologic settings environment, and climatic conditions including cold region and permafrost, high rainfall and arid climates, active seismic regions, tropical soil in Africa and South America, etc.
In the last 15 years, her work has concentrated on assignments as a project manager, technical lead/lead designer, and external auditor for predominantly mining clients. Ms. Josic is certified TSM External Verifier at Mining Association of Canada (MAC).
