Carlos Alberto Carmona was born in São Paulo, in November 10^th, 1957, where he graduated in Law by the Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de São Paulo in 1980.  Specialized in civil procedure and international law by the Facoltà di Giurisprudenza dell’Università degli Studi di Napoli, Italy, in 1984. In 1986, he began his activities as a Professor at the Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de São Paulo, where he now teaches general theory of procedure and civil procedure. He earned a doctorate in 1991 by the Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de São Paulo with the dissertation “The arbitration in the Brazilian Code of Civil Procedure” published in 1993 by Malheiros Publishers under the title “The arbitration in the Brazilian Civil Procedure”.
