Confronting Ethical Issues in International Arbitration

Co-Sponsored by Arbitration and Mediation Center of the Chamber of Commerce Brazil-Canada (CAM/CCBC), the ITA-CCB Americas Workshop will take place on October 14-15, 2010, in Bogotá.

The Americas Workshop will examine important Ethical Issues in International Arbitration in an especially illuminating and engaging manner, combining well-scripted mock scenes with expert commentaries on the ethical issues dramatically portrayed. The Workshop will also explore Perspectives of Latin American Arbitral Institutions on the current and fundamental ethical issues confronting the international arbitration community today.  Also, the results of ITA’s Survey of Latin American Arbitral Institutions will be announced and reviewed.  The luncheon speaker will be Dr. Juan Carlos Henao Pérez, Vice President of the Colombian Constitutional Court.  The faculty includes many of the leading arbitrators and arbitration practitioners in Latin America and around the world, as well as representatives of the leading arbitral institutions in Latin America.   The Americas Workshop is preceded on Thursday afternoon, October 14, by the Americas Roundtable for Young Lawyers (under 40 years old) who are engaged or interested in international arbitration. 

Both the Americas Workshop and the Americas Roundtable will be presented with simultaneous translation in Spanish and English.

Highlights of the October 14-15 events include:

• 3rd Americas Roundtable for young lawyers (under 40), co-presented with the three primary global young arbitrator organizations:  ICC YAF, ICDR Y&I and LCIA YIAG – October 14
• Welcome Reception for all Workshop and Roundtable faculty and registrants – October 14
• The Americas Workshop itself, featuring mock scenes and expert panels – October 15
• The Workshop Luncheon featuring Dr. Juan Carlos Henao Pérez, Vice President of the Constitutional Court of Colombia – October 15
• The Workshop Dinner for all faculty and participants that evening – October 15
