During the Breakfast, Mr Poloz will be addressing the guests in English on

“The Global Credit Crunch and what it will
mean for Brazil: a Canadian perspective.”

Mr. Poloz leads Export Development Canada’s (EDC) Financing Products Group, which
delivers a wide range of lending, structured finance, political risk insurance and equity
programs. He is also responsible for EDC Economics and the corporation's International
Trade Intelligence Department. Previously, he held the position of Senior Vice-President,
Corporate Affairs and Chief Economist.
Prior to joining EDC in 1999, Mr. Poloz was Managing Editor of the International Bank
Credit Analyst with Montreal-based BCA Research. He also spent 14 years at the Bank of
Canada, occupying a number of positions, including Chief of the Research Department.
He has been a visiting scholar at the IMF in Washington, and at the Economic Planning
Agency in Tokyo.
Mr. Poloz holds a Ph.D and M.A. in economics from the University of Western Ontario, and
a B.A. (Honours) in economics from Queen's University. He is also a recent graduate of
Columbia University's Senior Executive Program.
